- Heat the sunflower oil in a large pan and add the sliced onions.
- Gently fry for 5-10 minutes until the onions are soft and golden then set aside.
- For the tomato relish, add the chopped tomatoes, sugar, balsamic vinegar, and salt and pepper to taste into a small pot and allow it to reduce on a medium heat for 5-10 minutes until it has thickened slightly.
- Serve the boerewors in the hotdog rolls with some mustard, tomato relish, and fried onions with coleslaw on the side.
